The castle in brief ...
Perched on a rocky outcrop, the castle of Clisson overlooks the Sevre with its silhouette of medieval fortress. Starting from the end of the 12th century, under the reign of the Dukes of Bretagne,the castle had gotten equipped with , a formidable defensive system with barbacane, bastions and reinforcing Courtine. Burned during the Revolution, it fell in ruins until it was purchased in the early 19th century by Frédéric Lemot, giving it the vast landscaped area that creates Clisson ...
